To share my heart from a deep place,

There is someone there, I cannot replace,

A love so deep it is only reserved,

For you, my child, my son, has diverged.

To who you are now, a man, that I can see,

The little boy changes right in front of me,

You are an amazing human, both inside and out,

I’ve known your whole life; I had no doubt.

I knew full well who you’d become,

And here you are, my beautiful son,

Showing up in the world with kindness and compassion,

For all you are, I could never have imagined.

Even beyond what I knew to be true,

Of the little boy I watched as he grew,

The depth of your soul is held inside,

You are so powerful; it can not be denied.

I will always see these things in you,

And no matter what life brings, there is always one thing I will do,

Unconditionally love you because you are the one,

Who has brought me wisdom and so much fun.

You, the man, who was once a boy,

Who loved adventure and would sneak around with joy,

And cause my heart to leap over again,

When you came home bleeding from your head and then.

Flash forward to now, and see who I see,

The incredible man standing in front of me,

You live your life and I want you to know,

Just how proud I am of you, as my heart overflows.
